Shatter City, by Scott Westerfeld

Scott Westerfeld hooked us back into the universe of his prior Uglies series with Impostors and now is diving deep into this new story with this second explosive novel.

We rejoin a betrayed and devastated Frey. Born and raised to kill her talents are now set on the people who sent her to die, who betrayed her, and who have shown their true colours.

If you didn't already love Frey, Shatter City will ensure that you do. As we turn each page both the reader and the characters of the book learn more not just about our main character but about the world which molded her into the force of nature she is now.

From the blurb;

'Redemption. Risk. Revenge.

'When the world sees Frey, they think they see her twin sister Rafi. Frey was raised to be Rafi's double, and now she's taken on the role without anyone else knowing.

'Her goal now? To destroy the forces that created her.'

Not much can be said about this explosive sequel without giving the story away entirely. From the first page of Shatter City readers will hit the ground running, and the story won't let up even once.

Westerfeld has obviously fallen back in love with this universe as much as we have always loved it, and he is exploring everything he didn't before. As we learn more about the world after the Mind Rain we discover the true weight Tally Youngblood had on the people of the present, and are offered more crumbs into what happened to her after her last story.

Worth every second you spend reading it we strongly recommend diving into Shatter City.

We give Shatter City Four Stars
